Welcome to Sheridan’s Professional Accounting Graduate Certificate program, where we offer a clear pathway to becoming a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). Our program is designed to provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully complete the CPA and CFE preparatory courses.
Why CPA?
Our program is designed for students who have already completed an eligible 120-credit-hour degree and are looking to complete the remaining requirements to become a CPA. Furthermore completing our program, you can apply to the CPA’s Professional Education Program (PEP), the final step before you write your Common Final Exam (CFE).
For students who cannot commit to the full graduate certificate or only require a few more courses to obtain the requirements to be considered for the CPA’s Professional Education Program (PEP). Other than that we offer select CPA preparatory courses with Continuing and Professional Studies (CAPS). However, before registering for CPA and CFE preparatory courses, the student must ensure that they have the prerequisite knowledge needed to complete the course(s).

To become a CPA, you need to complete the CPA and CFE preparatory courses program, and one of the prerequisites for this program is taking approved preparatory courses. We offer four courses that have been approved for this purpose:
Corporate Finance:
Accordingly it’s a course that teaches students how to manage a corporation’s financial resources to achieve their strategic objectives. This course covers a range of financial decisions, including investment decisions, dividend policy decisions, and capital structure decisions.
Intermediate Financial Reporting:
It’s a course that covers various topics related to accounting, such as financial statement presentation, the accounting cycle. Moreover, the implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in the Canadian context.
Management Accounting:
Following this course will provide you with the opportunity to explore accounting information and strengthen your critical thinking skills. Basically you’ll learn how to apply management accounting techniques to make and evaluate managerial decisions, conduct cost-volume-profit analysis and budgeting, measure performance, plan organizational change efforts, and utilize company systems.
Taxation course:
Addtionally this course provides students with an indeed understanding of Canadian tax laws and regulations, and explores their implications for both individuals and corporations. Furthermore, the course examines the impact of various taxation systems on different stakeholders.
