You’re a Sheridan Student sitting at your desk after hours of writing your paper, when you want to get up and grab a drink. But your knees and back says “Not so fast!” and you’re thinking to yourself now, wow maybe I shouldn’t sit for so long. So you start standing more often throughout the work day, but your back hurts even more now! “What’s the reason!” you ask yourself. The answer, is your joint health. So where can we go that’s nearby and easy to access? PSB5 wants to give you Yoga and Pilates at Sheridan Davis Campus to help with your fitness needs.

Exercise is one of the best ways to improve not just your joint health, but your health in general. Your mind and your body are connected, more than you think. The stress that you feel from working so hard on your term paper, from working in all of the group projects this semester, or from the pressure of upcoming exams, it affects your body. But after a long day of all that work, working out in a noisy, loud gym seems even more stressful.

Wellness

That’s where wellness comes in. Wellness just means to be in overall good health, and who doesn’t want that? I know that’s what I try to do every day. You’re probably wondering how I do that; I’ll tell you! Yoga! Yoga helps you to destress your mind. The deep breathing combined with stretching releases those feel good endorphins we all know and love. The slow movements that stretch the muscle fibers out also help the joints see some relief.

The Solution to Stress

You’re probably asking yourself why would you need to go to a gym or pay for a membership when you can do yoga at home.
